Eligible applicants for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) New Generation Housing (PGBF) scheme may get financing of up to 110% from Agrobank, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

This was among several benefits following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the bank yesterday.

“Applicants can get financing up to 110% of the value of a house with a maximum of RM300,000.

“Agrobank has also agreed to extend the terms of the loan for the PGBF scheme and offer lower interest rates for eligible applicants,” he said when opening the national level Felda Settlers Day at the Felda Mara Junior Science College in Trolak near here yesterday.

It was reported last November that RM250mil worth of grants had been approved by the government to complete 20 PGBF projects involving 4,794 houses.

Muhyiddin said he understood that this was one of the most important issues among Felda settlers.

“We want the settlers to be able to own their own homes,” he said.

He also announced the setting up of a special team to handle Feldarelated issues.

The team, he said, would be led by Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar.

“Among their main focus is to secure Felda’s finances. They will present their findings to me soon,” he said.

Other initiatives, he said, would see Felda collaborating with Universiti Putra Malaysia to produce at least 3,170 entrepreneurs within five months.

“The government also allocated about RM200mil for upgrading and maintaining Felda settlers’ plantations as well as RM45mil for the renovation and upgrade of Felda Asrama Semai Bakti in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru and Kuantan,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Arthur Joseph Kurup, Felda chairman Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh and Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
