Need for long-term post-Covid-19 recovery plan
PETALING JAYA: An accurate long-term recovery and restructural plan is being planned to cater to the needs arising from the post-Covid-19 landscape, says Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
“Input for such a plan is being handled by the Economic Action Council (EAC) secretariat, which has carried out over 150 feedback sessions since March involving 23 industries across all sectors,” said the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy).
The industries included digital economy, education, investment and manufacturing.
On Tuesday, a workshop themed “Malaysia’s Future Workforce” was held.
“Focus of the discussions at the inaugural workshop is on gathering input from participants representing various sectors related to our workforce in the future,” Mustapa said in a statement following his visit to the workshop.
He added that the workshop would allow participants to discuss and exchange ideas before presenting solutions to overcome the challenges brought about by Covid-19.
“All views and proposals will be scrutinised by the EAC for consideration to be included in the post-Covid-19 economic mid-term recovery plan and the 12th Malaysia Plan,” he said.
The workshop was attended by over 100 participants from the Higher Education Ministry, Human Resources Ministry, Social Security Organisation, Human Resources Development Fund, Federation of Manufacturers Malaysia and Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, among others.
The 12th Malaysia Plan is expected to be tabled in Parliament early next year after considering the impact of Covid-19 on the nation’s economy.
All views and proposals will be scrutinised by the EAC.
