BELOW are some frequently asked questions relating to boarding schools under the Education Ministry (MOE) following the announceme­nt that schools will reopen in stages for Form One to Form Four students and primary pupils starting on Wednesday.

Q When will Form One to Form Four students at boarding schools return to school?

A Students will start schooling on July 15. However, for boarding schools that are not able to accommodat­e all their students (after taking into considerat­ion social distancing), the school will contact parents/guardians to inform them of the start date for their children/ward.

Q When will primary school pupils at boarding schools return to school?

A Year Five and Six pupils will start schooling on July 15 while Year One to Year Four pupils will start on July 22. However, for boarding schools that are not able to accommodat­e all their students (in view of social distancing), the school will contact parents/ guardians to inform them of the start date for their children/ward.

Q When will Form One to Three students at fully residentia­l schools (SBP), national religious schools (SMKA), government-assisted religious schools (SABK), Malaysia sports schools (SSM), state sports schools (SSN) or Malaysia art schools (SSeM) return to school? A On Aug 3.

Q Are all students living at boarding schools able to return home during Hari Raya Aidiladha?

A Yes.

Q Are Form One to Three students at SBP, SMKA, SABK, SSM, SSN or SSeM, who have already made travel arrangemen­ts, allowed back to school on July 15?

A Yes.

Q Must all the students who live at the dormitorie­s of vocational colleges (KV) register on July 15?

A No. The reopening of teaching and learning on July 15 will only involve students in their first year (Form Four students) pursuing the Malaysian Skills Certificat­e (SKM) and apprentice­s in the first year (Form Four students) of the National Dual Training System (SLDN) mode. Students pursuing the Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) and Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) must register using the system and calendar set by their respective vocational colleges.
