Police prepared for extension of recovery MCO

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are ready if the recovery movement control order (MCO) is extended beyond Aug 31, says Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

“We are prepared to perform our duties as long as the Covid-19 pandemic is not over,” he said.

“We are ready for any eventualit­y, including the possibilit­y that the recovery MCO is extended.

“We hope the public will adhere to the SOP, including wearing face masks and maintainin­g physical distancing,” he said.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the state police were also prepared if the recovery MCO was extended.

“The state police have been deployed and performed all the necessary duties since the

MCO started on March 18,” he said.

He said the Johor police would improve certain aspects of their duties.

“We have good cooperatio­n agencies, including the Armed local councils,” Comm Ayob said.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin said they would continue with their monitoring of public compliance with the standard operating procedure.

“Whatever may come, we are always prepared,” with other Forces and he said.

Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said the state police were ready if the recovery MCO was extended.

“We are prepared to perform our duties based on the government’s decision on the matter.

“Our readiness is always at an optimum level. Together with other agencies, we are confident that we will be able to do our part,” he said.
