THE local entertainment world was shocked by the news of a freak accident which killed guitarist Wan Radzie Wan Othman – professionally known as Eddy Malmsteen – and his sister.

Their older brother Wan Razmie, 33, told Harian Metro that he was lucky a neighbour managed to pull him to safety during the 10pm incident involving a faulty water heater at their house near Batu 11, Jalan Lama Gombak on Saturday.

He said during the incident, his sister, Wan Zunira, 32, was bathing her son, Airell, when Wan Radzie heard something fall in the bathroom.

“He rushed into the room and saw both mother and son unconscious,” said Wan Razmie.

“He quickly alerted a neighbour before rushing back into the bathroom to check on Wan Zunira and Airell when he was electrocuted.”

Wan Razmie said he rushed to the house after receiving a call from his sister’s older son at around 11.05pm.

“When I reached home, I saw my siblings lying on the floor and frothing at the mouth and Airell was sobbing and moving weakly.

“I didn’t know that they had been electrocuted. Luckily, a neighbour yanked me back before I reached out to touch Airell’s hand,” he said, adding that he later called for an ambulance.

Wan Razmie said he and his siblings were close.

> Utusan Malaysia highlighted the grouses of some 3,500 residents, including fishermen and businessmen, in Kuala Sanglang, Perlis, that people had been “avoiding” them.

They claimed that this came about because they were now known as the Covid-19 Sivagangga cluster.

Muhamad Zuker Ramli, 49, said the income of over 260 fishermen had been affected because they could not sell their catch at the Kuala Sanglang jetty.

“The wholesalers and customers are afraid to come to the jetty.

“Usually, each of us can sell between 30kg to 40kg of fish but now, nobody’s buying,” he said.
