Norde shows why he’ll always get the nod from Melaka
PETALING JAYA: Haitian international Sony Norde played his heart out to steal the show in Melaka’s stunning 1-0 victory over high-riding Perak at the Perak Stadium last Friday.
Norde’s combination with Uche Agba was a delight to watch and the fearsome duo are bound to wreak havoc against other defenders in the Malaysian Super League.
After defeating a team who were second before the season’s resumption, Melaka will take on Terengganu, who are now second with 10 points, next.
And Norde believes that if everyone plays with determination, Melaka can upset the formbook again.
“If you play with heart and desire, you can beat anyone. Even if you have the skills and technique and other advantages but if you do not have the desire and sacrifice, you can’t achieve your target,” said the former India club Mohun Bagan player who is revered by the club’s fans thanks to his impressive performances there.
“Do not expect something from others – everybody must give their best when playing for the club.
“You already have a good team, so be proud of them. Play for your family, and your loved ones. Fight and then you will win,” said Norde.
Before the season resumed, Melaka, under coach Zainal Abidin Hassan, were in the relegation zone after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) docked them three points for failing to settle their players’ wage arrears.
Melaka were 11th in the 12-team standings with three points but are now sixth with six points.
