Umno supreme council member Datuk Mohd Razlan Rafii (pic) has been hospitalised after testing positive for Covid19.

According to a close party source, he said that Mohd Razlan’s rapid test kit had shown a positive result and he was currently awaiting the result of his second test.

In a short 22-second video clip, he was seen lying in a hospital bed recording a message, urging the public to remain vigilant and advised them to adhere to physical distancing.

“I am now on drips. While doing the swab test, it is crucial to isolate yourself first,” he said.

Razlan was said to have been campaigning in the Sipitang constituency in Sabah.

According to SuaraTV news portal, all of his close contacts were undergoing screening for Covid-19.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he was waiting for an official report on Razlan’s case.

He said he had asked Razlan to be placed under quarantine in Sabah if the report was true.

Ismail Sabri said the Cabinet would discuss the health and safety aspects for the Sabah election scheduled for Saturday.

Sabah had recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the past week, with new clusters being reported.

The country’s death toll due to Covid-19 increased to 129 when Patient 10,145, a 50-year-old Filipino woman, died on Sept 14.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reminded those involved in the Sabah state election to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set.

“Whether health workers or not and (also) the others in Sabah, all should comply with the SOP. If we adhere to the SOP, we can avoid getting infected.

“If there is a gathering, the risk (of getting infected) will increase if there is no (physical) distancing, no wearing of face masks and not washing hands,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
