Megat: I’ll cooperate with authorities on SOPs breach issue
Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association (KLHA) president Datuk Seri Megat D. Shahriman Zaharudin will cooperate with the authorities on allegations that he breached safety protocols at the Razak Cup competition.
The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) claimed that Megat brought his family which includes children to watch the Kuala Lumpur-Negri Sembilan match at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
Megat in a press statement said that no security personnel or competition officials stopped him or his family members from entering the stadium.
“I leave it to the MHC and the authorities to investigate the incident. I have no problem giving my full cooperation to them.
“I want to stress that my family and I were not stopped by anyone from entering the stadium. If anyone had stopped me, I would have no problem complying with the security personnel or the competition officials.
“I assumed that I was allowed to enter the stadium with my family after following the standard operating procedures (SOP) at the stadium’s entrance and at the same time, no competition officials asked me and my family members to leave the stadium for breaching the SOPs. I only knew of the incident following a media report on Sept 21.”
Megat also vehemently denied the MHC competitions committee chairman Datuk Seri Anil Jeet Singh’s allegation that he had abused the accreditation card by giving it to his family members.
“I deny the report that I gave the cards to my family members. It is an unsubstantiated and malicious allegation which tarnished my reputation and I will not hesitate to lodge a police report and take legal action to clear my name,” he added.
