New Sabah CM urged to form diverse Cabinet

FEDERATION of Chinese Associations Sabah president Tan Sri Goh Tian Chuan is urging the new Sabah Chief Minister to form a state government that is multiracial to ensure no one gets left out, reports China Press.

Goh, who is also the president of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong), said having a diverse state Cabinet would prevent any particular race from being marginalised.

In a statement released on Sunday, Goh also congratulated the newly-elected state assemblymen and urged them to fulfil their pledges to improve Sabah.

He pointed out the new state government would be one which has the mandate of Sabahans and urged representatives to work hard and serve their constituents.

Goh added that the Federal Government and the Sabah state government should work together closely to balance both managing the state while at the same time, safeguarding the autonomy of Sabah and the rights of its people.

> Chinese singer Isabelle Huang was praised for being a professional after she continued her performance despite falling down the stage at a concert on Saturday, reports China Press.

The 33-year-old singer was performing one of her singles Hello ata Mid-Autumn Festival concert in Ningxia but suddenly disappeared from view for two minutes.

She was found to have slipped and fallen off the edge of the stage.

Despite being injured, Huang was adamant to continue her performance.

“Can everyone still hear me? I’m sorry, I didn’t see (the edge). It hurts a little but I can still sing. Please don’t mind me! I’m okay, don’t worry,” said a sobbing Huang who was helped back on stage by staff.

Many took to the Internet to praise Huang’s professionalism, while others shared picture of a massive bruise which appeared on Huang’s thigh from the fall.

> Due to restrictions stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, Hong Kong singer-actor Andy Lau spent his birthday livestreaming to his fans instead of celebrating it in person with them, reports China Press.

The 59-year-old, whose birthday fell on Sunday, said his birthday wish for the year was for the pandemic to end quickly.

“2020 is a special year. I hope the pandemic around the world would end soon, no other natural disasters and I wish everyone happiness and good health. This is my birthday wish,” he said after cutting his cake.

Lau revealed that he has spent most of the last few months hunkered down at home and at the studio in preparation for a new album.
