‘Wok with Lions’ features recipe-sharing via Kuali app

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group’s (SMG) Kuali food portal and Lions Clubs International District 308 B1 Malaysia have signed a memorandum of collaboration to embark on a series of activities, based on a shared love for good food.

The collaboration, dubbed “Wok with Lions”, will feature recipe-sharing via the Kuali app, events on food promotions or competitions, as well as bi-monthly newsletters on recipes and food events.

The memorandum was signed by Lions Clubs International District 308 B1 Malaysia district governor Kenny Low Man Fook and SMG’s Dimsum Entertainment chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim at Menara Star.

Also present were chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, chief financial officer Au Chen Sum and corporate office special officer Loo Phan Kooi from SMG, as well as first vice district governor Tan Teoh Teik Choon, second vice district governor Dorothy Ong Lee Ping and past council chair Lim Hoe Guan from Lions Clubs International District 308 B1 Malaysia.

“There are about 4,000 Lions Clubs members within our district and 1.4 million worldwide.

“Many of them are talented at cooking and love to eat,” said Low.

“All the members can now contribute recipes and share their love for food through the Kuali app with the Malaysian community at large and even worldwide.”

As a diverse group with members from different walks of life and backgrounds, Low believes that the Lions Clubs members would also be able to contribute recipes from various cuisines such as Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western.

“The movement control order period saw a spike in people looking for recipes and ideas on what to cook.

“Because Kuali has a rich library of recipes spanning 22 years, it offers a great platform for those looking for specific dishes to cook,” said Lam.

She added that the collaboration would also encourage the community to share their best recipes and family traditions.

Ong, who enjoys cooking and specialises in Nyonya cuisine, is excited about promoting the collaboration and Kuali app to her fellow club members.

“We can get friends of club members to come in and share their recipes too,” she said.

“This indirectly allows people to learn about what Lions Clubs do and our movement to serve the community.”
