New venue for Kedah-Melaka match

-

PETALING JAYA: The Super League game between Melaka and Kedah has been postponed twice and now, there is a new venue.

It will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras instead at the Darulaman Stadium due to the increasing Covid-19 cases in Kedah and the date has been moved from Oct 4 to Oct 5.

All these changes can affect players’ concentration but Melaka’s South Korean centreback Jang Suk-won is not losing sleep over it.

After a 2-3 defeat to Sabah last week, the 31-year-old Suk-won is hellbent on getting his team back on track.

“I am fine with any situation in terms of the game, I want to get three points for Melaka,” said the former South Korean Under-23 international.

“The team have been talking a lot after our recent defeat. We want to get a good solution and come good against Kedah.

“Kedah’s strength lies in their two strikers (Tchetche Kipre and Kpah Sherman). However, they also have other classy players. We just have to make sure that we do not commit any mistakes.

“We have our dynamic duo too. Sony Norde and Uche Agba are brilliant goal-getters. Melaka will work as a team. We defend as a team, and we attack as a team.

“Last year, we beat them at home (1-0) but lost in the away game (2-1) in the Super League.

Melaka are currently seventh with 11 points, and Suk-won, who is in his second season with the Mousedeer, believes his team can end the season in the top four spot.

“If we believe in our skills and show confidence in the field, we will be in the top four.”
