RM2mil for Covid-19 fund

-

TAYLOR’S Schools have set up the Taylor’s Covid-19 Financial Assistance Fund (TCFA) to help learners who will be sitting for their exams and are facing financial hardships.

Taylor’s Education Group group chief executive officer Datuk Loy Teik Ngan said RM2mil has been allocated for the fund so that learners in their crucial years will be able to continue to focus on their studies and exams undisrupted despite the difficult times.

“With Covid-19 continuing to impact people and countries around the world, the well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority as we strive to ensure learning continuity for all students.

“As we endure the effects of the pandemic, we are seeing its impact on the livelihood of our students and their families and we have put in place measures to support our group of financially vulnerable students,” said Loy.

Over 65% of some 60 applicants have received immediate financial relief via subsidies in school fees, said Taylor’s Schools president B.K. Gan.

A grateful parent at Garden International School who had received assistance through TCFA said Taylors’ gesture made her and her two daughters feel appreciated.

“We feel honored that the school should go to this extent to allow both of my daughters to carry on and finish their A-levels and IGCSE.

“I know both of them will make us all proud through their dedication, hard work and determination to achieve outstanding results by the end of the next academic year.”

Since the onset of the pandemic, the Taylor’s Education Group has implemented strategies to ensure continuity in education for students of both its private international schools and higher education institutions.

In April, Taylor’s University and College announced a RM1mil Financial Hardship Fund to facilitate students whose families have been impacted by the pandemic.

Additionally, the higher education arm has also initiated an instalment payment scheme in order to ease some of the financial burdens.
