MACC vows to continue serving with integrity
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) personnel have pledged to continue discharging their responsibilities well and with full integrity.
The MACC in a statement yesterday also expressed their thanks to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for his congratulatory message in conjunction with MACC’s 53rd anniversary on Oct 1.
The MACC said they greatly appreciated His Majesty’s advice and concern over efforts to prevent and control crime.
“May Allah always keep Your Majesty in his protection, bless you with good health and may Malaysia remains a prosperous and peaceful nation,” said the statement.
Sultan Abdullah in a post on Istana Negara’s official Facebook page extended his congratulations to all MACC staff.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki 290 individuals were given protection by the MACC, under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010, for providing information relating to corrupt activities and abuse of power since 2016.
Azam said the safety of whistleblowers was guaranteed under the law.
“The MACC needs information from the public so that we can gather more information and carry out our responsibilities more effectively,” he said.
He noted MACC often faced problems getting information because many people are still afraid to report corrupt activities.
In another development, Azam said MACC aims to promote zero-tolerance for corruption among Malaysians. — Bernama
