Couple to hold wedding but will give reception a miss – for now

-

PETALING JAYA: It was not an easy decision to make, but a couple in Selangor, who were set to hold their wedding reception this Saturday, have postponed it in the wake of the Covid-19 situation.

They had to call off the reception when the venue owners were advised by the police to postpone the event.

The couple got the news from the venue organisers on Monday, informing them that their reception had to be deferred due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in Selangor recently.

“We were supposed to have a lunch reception on Oct 10 after our church wedding ceremony.

“The event venue owners were advised by the police to postpone the event for now,” the 26-year old executive, only known as Lim, said.

Although understanding the reason for the postponement, Lim said the turn of events was frustrating as they had spent a year planning for the memorable occasion.

“We had to quickly inform our guests and we are thankful to our family and friends for their understanding.

“So now we are waiting for the appropriate time to have the lunch reception because we have already paid a deposit to the caterer,” she said yesterday.

Being under Covid-19 conditions, Lim said she and her partner had carefully planned the wedding to ensure that it adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure the safety of the 50 guests who were invited.

“We printed the SOP which was to be handed out to guests and even sent them messages to remind them not to attend if they are not feeling well,” she said.

Lim said she and her future spouse would still go ahead with the church ceremony but with limited number of witnesses.

“Unfortunately, we will not be holding a reception and guests will leave without sharing a meal with us after the ceremony,” she said.

Lim said the wedding reception will be planned again once the venue owners give the greenlight.
