PETALING JAYA: A 25-year-old man who was held against his will by an Ah Long was rescued following a raid at a budget hotel in Telok Panglima Garang.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the raid also led to the arrest of the 36-year-old Ah Long, who has been remanded for seven days to help in investigation.

Five mobile phones, a tablet, three chequebooks and a car were among items seized during the raid at the hotel in Kuala Langat district, Selangor, at 2.45am yesterday.

“Further investigation led police to the Ah Long two hours after the raid,” said ACP Nik Ezanee.

He said the victim’s mother, a 54-year-old assistant secretary, lodged a police report on Tuesday claiming the Ah Long called her and demanded RM25,000 from her.

“The Ah Long told the mum he was holding her son and demanded RM25,000 for his release.

“The son had previously owed a few Ah Long money but settled the RM150,000 in debts.

“After that, he borrowed RM8,000 from the suspect but subsequently paid RM7,000,” said ACP Nik Ezanee.

The suspect, he said, had previously gone to the victim’s home and demanded RM18,000.

“The son is jobless and has a gambling problem,” he added.

In separate case, a 32-year-old woman who allegedly charged RM300 an hour for sex has been detained by the police.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a condominium unit in Kota Damansara here at about 10pm on Tuesday.

“We believe she has been offering sex and charging RM300 an hour for her service.

“She looked for customers using the ‘MICHAT’ application,” ACP Nik Ezanee said.

Police seized several items from the premises, including a mobile phone, two towels, two boxes of tissues, a bottle of lubricant and four pieces of condoms, he added.

“She has been remanded for four days,” said ACP Nik Ezanee.

In another case, compounds were issued to 23 people for violating the recovery movement control order in the district on Tuesday.

ACP Nik Ezanee said among the offences committed were not wearing face masks and not maintaining physical distancing.

“A team from the Petaling Jaya police headquarters inspected various locations in the district, including supermarkets, restaurants and entertainment outlets,” he said.
