Mainland reports no new locally transmitte­d virus cases

BEIJING: No new locally transmitte­d Covid-19 cases were reported across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said.

A total of seven confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported on Tuesday, the commission said in its daily report yesterday.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission added.

Of the new imported cases, three were reported in Sichuan, two in Guangdong, and one each in Shanxi and Shanghai.

On Tuesday, 15 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland.

By the end of Tuesday, a total of 2,940 imported cases had been reported on the mainland.

Of them, 2,735 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 205 remained hospitalis­ed, with one in severe condition.

No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases on the mainland had reached 85,489, including the 205 patients still being treated.

Altogether 80,650 patients had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 had died of the disease on the mainland, the commission said.

There were four suspected Covid19 cases on the mainland, while 8,792 close contacts were still under medical observatio­n after 467 were discharged on Tuesday, according to the commission.

Also on Tuesday, 24 new asymptomat­ic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported, and four asymptomat­ic cases were re-categorise­d as confirmed cases.

By Tuesday, 5,132 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administra­tive Region (SAR), 46 cases in Macao SAR, and 521 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,875 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 485 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
