KOLEJ Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) continues to set new standards in the 2020 Cambridge A Level achievement of its students.

Over 90% of its students are expected to secure spots at their chosen universities based on the recent results.

Five students will enrol at the University of Cambridge and four will attend the University of Oxford, said KYUEM.

According to the fully residential college, 57% of its students will be leaving for the United Kingdom to enrol at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, London School of Economics, University College London and King’s College London.

Students applying to read medicine have received offers from universities in

Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Dundee, Cardiff and Liverpool and from universities in Ireland like Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and the Royal College of Surgeons.

A few of them obtained offers from International Medical University and RUMC-Dublin in Penang.

Students have also received offers from universities in the United States including Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, University of California Berkeley, University of California Los Angeles, New York

University (both the US and Abu Dhabi campuses), Yale-NUS, Boston University, and University of Illinois UrbanaChampaign.

KYUEM students performed better in the recent A Level exams compared to the previous year.

In the July 2018 and January 2019 exams, 96% of all grades were in the range A* to B; 82% of all grades were either A* or A; 67% of students achieved at least three A grades; and 62% of students achieved straight A grades.

This year saw an improvement of grades by between 1% and 4%, KYUEM said in a press release.

The grades awarded this year are the result of internal evaluation and Cambridge Assessment International Education’s (CAIE) approval as no public examinations took place in May and June.

KYUEM, which requires strong academic results in the SPM or IGCSE for enrolment in July (two-year programme) or January (18-month programme) next year, is holding an open day next month (Nov 21).
