Helping housewives upskill

-

GRAPHIC Design for Housewives, a 10-day course to help participants generate an income for the household, was recently organised by the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Business School (UBS).

Consisting of 10 modules, the course was fully funded by the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) under the Housewives Enhancement and Reactivate Talent Scheme (HEARTS).

The HEARTS programme, held at the Unimas City Campus, Kuching, aimed to train talented housewives to actively participate in the economic growth of the country and to provide a platform for them to acquire new skills.

Held from Aug 17 to 28, the course saw the participation of 20 selected housewives.

Learning units were tailor-made based on their basic knowledge to help them enhance skills in applying graphic design software and online design tools. Participants also learnt designing home-based product labels and stickers.

The course was conducted by certified HRDF trainer Syahrul Nizam Junaini, from the varsity’s Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.

UBS, a certified HRDF training provider, provides a wide range of non-formal lifelong learning opportunities designed to sharpen knowledge and skills.

The programmes encompass short courses, training, workshops, master classes, seminars, conventions, conferences and customised training programmes for professionals, executives, and individuals.
