PETALING JAYA: Hours after holding a press conference on the enhanced movement control order (MCO) at a workers’ hostel, Petaling Jaya District Police chief also made the decision to self-quarantine himself.

Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said he was notified that he was at risk.

“I was informed at around 2pm by a District Health official that someone whom I had been in contact with over the planning on the enhanced MCO here was a close contact to a positive case,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said he would self-quarantine until the close contact received the results from the Covid-19 screening.

“Once he tests negative, I will suit up and get back on the field,” he said.

Several reporters who covered the press conference, including this reporter, also took the decision to self-quarantine.

During the press conference, ACP Nik Ezanee said nearly two dozen local and foreign staff at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort had tested positive for Covid-19.

He said there were initially 11 cases as of Sunday with another 12 people testing positive yesterday morning.

“This makes it 23 positive cases within the grounds of the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort’s workers’ hostel,” he told reporters outside the workers hostel.

He said police also went to the golf resort on Sunday, after it was found to be still operating.

“The Health Ministry issued an order for the golf resort to close on Saturday.

“Health Ministry officials lodged a report on Sunday at the Damansara police station that it was still operating and a police team was sent there,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said 20 police personnel would be on the ground to enforce the order.

“A total of 597 staff comprising both locals and foreigners will be screened starting on Wednesday,” he said.

When asked about the conditional MCO being implemented, he said they would make certain recommendations based on police assessment of the situation to the higher authorities later yesterday.

“For now, everyone in Petaling Jaya should limit their movements.

“Once you finish work, go home. Try to postpone gatherings and ceremonies for the time being,” he said.
