Tabling of Budget 2021 a test for PM, says Khalid

-

IPOH: The tabling of Budget 2021 next month is a test for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said Parti Amanah Negara communications director Khalid Abdul Samad.

“If there are split votes, he does not get a simple majority and the Budget fails, then that is the fall of the current government,” he claimed.

He also claimed that Muhyiddin would gradually lose power if he gave in to all of Umno’s demands.

“When he gives in to such demands, after six months they (Umno) will ask for more,” Khalid said at a press conference after opening the party’s state convention yesterday.

On Friday, Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said Umno should be given a deputy prime minister’s post and more strategic ministerial positions in the Perikatan Nasional government as it was the biggest contributor of seats in Parliament.

Tajuddin had said that Umno had not been given due recognition it deserved despite contributing to the formation of the governing coalition.

Additionally, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan had said on Friday that he and Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had a video conference with Muhyiddin and had been told to submit an official letter outlining their demands.
