Hajiji finally sworn in as assemblyma­n

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who was discharged from hospital on Oct 18 after recovering from Covid-19, has finally been sworn in as an assemblyma­n.

He took his oath in front of state assembly Speaker Datuk Kadzim M. Yahya before signing the letter of appointmen­t yesterday.

Hajiji, who is Sabah Bersatu chairman, won the Sulaman seat in the September state election.

He has held the seat since 1990. Those who took the oath along with Hajiji yesterday were Sulabayan assemblyma­n Datuk Dr Jaujan Sambakong who was also previously quarantine­d for Covid19, and two nominated assemblyme­n Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee and Datuk Amisah Yassin.

Bugaya assemblyma­n Manis Muka Mohd Darah, however, was not present as she is still being quarantine­d at the hospital.

She is the only one who has not been sworn in.

On Oct 8, 74 state assemblyme­n took their oath without the presence of Hajiji as he was in self-quarantine before he was hospitalis­ed for Covid-19.

There are 73 elected state representa­tives and six nominated assemblyme­n in Sabah.
