‘Detective Lingam’ actor now runs Dapur Gerak Khas

-

SHAMSUDDIN “Deen” Maidin, who played Detective Lingam in the local police drama Gerak Khas, now owns a food stall named after the TV series, Harian Metro reported.

Dapur Gerak Khas offers yong tau foo and other dishes.

“I am retiring (from acting) soon, so this is one of the ways for me to be prepared for my future,” said the 55-year-old.

Dapur Gerak Khas has been operating at the Taman Kosas food court in Ampang since September.

Deen said he decided to set up the stall following his success selling lemang and roast lamb during the movement control order period.

“I received a lot of support from fans and fellow actors.

“This is not something new to me as I used to help my father with his yong tau foo business in Ampang, Lembah Jaya, Cheras and Kajang,” he said.

Deen said he had permission from Datuk Yusof Haslam, the director and producer of Gerak Khas, to use the name for his stall.

“Yusof has advised me to take care of the food quality because of the name it bears,” he said.

> Singer Siti Nordiana has denied talk that she and Khai Bahar have problems at work.

A Berita Harian report quoted the songstress, popularly known as Nana, as saying that it was merely a misunderstanding.

“Khai and I never had a fight, like what people thought. It was just a misunderstanding,” she said.

Nana, 36, added that fans probably suspected a spat between them after noticing they had not been pictured together for some time.

“Previously, when we had a performance together, we did not have the chance to chat and take pictures together because Khai had to rush off for a meeting.

“Many people sent messages asking about it but I did not entertain them because there was no issue between Khai and me,” she said.
