Selangor return early due to increase in Covid-19 cases

-

PETALING JAYA: Selangor have cut short their Malaysia Cup preparations in Seremban due to the rising Covid-19 cases.

The Red Giants moved base to Negri Sembilan last week after contact sports activities were not allowed in Selangor due to the conditional movement control order.

However, as Seremban is now a red zone area, interim coach Michael Feichtenbeiner decided on the early return to Shah Alam along with the 26 players.

They had lined up a friendly match before completing their stint and now the German coach has to come up with a new plan.

“We had to return a day earlier because matches are now not allowed in Seremban. We still had a good four days of training ... it was short but intensive.

“There’s no plans yet for the next course of action.

“We will have to wait for the latest info from the government before we decide what to do.”

Selangor are eyeing Malaysia Cup glory after falling short in the Super League where they finished a dismal fifth in the 12-team standings.

The Klang Valley outfit are the most successful team in the Malaysia Cup, having won it 33 times.
