Police arrest suspect in alleged road rage incident

-

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man to assist in investigations of an alleged road rage incident here.

OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they received a report from an 18-yearold student on Tuesday night.

“The student claimed she was driving near the Mutiara Damansara bus stop when a vehicle, driven by a man, suddenly swerved into her lane.

“She sounded her horn and later realised the other car was tailing her until Jalan Persiaran Bukit Utama,” he said in a statement.

ACP Nik Ezanee said when she pulled over, the suspect approached her car before kicking the bumper and hitting one of the windows.

“She claimed the suspect also tried to open her door.

“When she decided to drive off, the suspect once again kicked her car,” he said, adding that the next day, police arrested the 32-yearold suspect along Jalan Penchala.

He said the case had been classified as criminal intimidation and committing mischief and causing damage.

In a separate case, ACP Nik Ezanee said a 33-year-old woman was arrested for lodging a false report.

“We received her report at 9.18pm on Thursday, claiming she was robbed of her bracelet and ring by two men at a bus stop near an apartment in Section 17.

‘’Investigations showed the woman had lodged many police reports on other robberies in the past, raising our suspicion.

“We then brought the woman to the scene but she could not re-enact the robbery incident,” he said, adding that after further investigation, the woman confessed that she lodged a false report.

ACP Nik Ezanee said the woman claimed she lodged the report as she was worried her mother would scold her for losing the jewellery.

“We view this matter very seriously. The public should not simply lodge a police report for personal interests,” he said.
