Most number of new cases in KL

Health DG: Four new clusters found in KL, Sabah, Selangor and Kelantan

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,309 Covid-19 cases, with Kuala Lumpur having the most cases, at 493.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also reported three new fatalities in the 24 hours by noon yesterday, bringing the total death toll to 357.

Malaysia also discharged 1,333 patients, which means the total recoveries stand at 52,647 or a rate of 81.6%.

In his statement, he also said active cases total 11,481 currently.

Cumulative­ly, the country’s total number of cases since the outbreak began in January is 64,485.

At present, 116 people are being treated at intensive care units, with 42 of them requiring ventilator support.

Aside from the 493 cases in Kuala Lumpur, 290 cases were recorded in Sabah, followed by Selangor (238), Perak (77), Kedah (52), Penang (46), Johor (37), Labuan (35), Negri Sembilan (32), Kelantan (six), and Terengganu, Melaka and Pahang each recorded one case.

Meanwhile Dr Noor Hisham said four new clusters have been identified in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Selangor and Kelantan.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Sungai Mulia constructi­on site cluster was identified following screenings at the area yesterday, he added.

A total of 124 individual­s were screened and 23 tested positive.

Dr Noor Hisham said that in Sabah, the Batu Lima cluster was detected in Kota Kinabalu involving the case index (case 50,994) who tested positive after showing symptoms on Nov 19.

A total of 117 others were later tested and 48 of them tested positive.

He also said that in Selangor, the Yayasan cluster was identified in Klang involving the case index (case 52,340) who tested positive on Nov 20 after exhibiting symptoms.

Among the 189 others who were tested later, 20 of them were confirmed to be Covid-19-positive.

“The Hilir cluster was identified in Kota Baru, Tumpat, Bachok and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan involving the case index (case 58,845) who tested positive after showing symptoms on Nov 24,” he said, adding that 974 others were tested and 20 of them were found to be positive.
