PETALING JAYA: More than half of Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases were detected in the Teratai cluster which is linked to rubber glove manufacturer Top Glove.

With 1,472 new cases, the country now has a total of 67,169 cumulative Covid-19 infections.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said recoveries were higher than new cases with 1,552 patients being discharged in the past 24 hours.

“In total, 56,311 patients or 83.8% have recovered from Covid-19 and active cases have gone down to 10,495,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“A big number of the cases are from construction sites and factories.

“These high numbers are a result of active case detection and screening of close contacts,” he said.
