Raja Ilya: I turned down Netflix series due to nude scenes

ACTRESS Raja Ilya turned down an opportunity to star in a Netflix series two years ago as the role required her to remove her clothes, Harian Metro reported.

The actress, who now lives in Perth, Australia, said she rejected the offer because it was not in line with what she wanted.

“The part came with a good pay and it was produced by an established production company.

“However, I turned down the offer,” she said without revealing the name of the series which would be aired on Netflix.

Raja Ilya, 35, said while she respected the views of others that such scenes were “works of art’’, she personally was uncomfortable taking on such roles.

“It is up to the individual but I am not comfortable to act in shots that require me to be naked or in sexual scenes,’’ she said.

Finas chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid said he was confident that those in the creative industry are used to the new norms by now and would follow the SOP to ensure there are no Covid-19 clusters within the industry.

He said since the pandemic, the industry has suffered tremendously.

However, no clusters have been linked to the creative industry so far as all field activities were carried after getting permission from the National Security Council and following all SOP.

Zakaria said production companies that were allowed to do outdoor or location shooting must also be mindful of the SOP at all times.
