Adam continues with training during festive season

-

PETALING JAYA: It may be Hari Raya back home but it’s business as usual for Malaysian rider Adam Norrodin in Barcelona.

The 22-year-old cannot afford to step away from bike training with the next round of the CEV Moto2 Europe Championship in Barcelona just three weeks away.

Adam is riding high in the feeder series for the MotoGP world championship after claiming back-to-back podium finishes.

After never having finished better than fifth in 18 previous races, Adam has now finished third on both occasions in Estoril, Portugal and in Valencia.

It makes sense for Adam together with fellow riders Mohd Sharul Ezwan and Syarifuddin Azman to remain in Europe and not travel back despite the short break.

Spain have just ended a six-month emergency curfew and sporting activities are slowly getting back to normal pace.

“The current situation is also not safe to travel and I’ll have to be quarantined when I return home,” Adam said.

“If I stay here, I can continue gym and track training like usual.

“Our minds are fully focused on getting ready for the third round of the championship that we forgot to bring our Baju Melayu with us when we left the country earlier this year.

“We did not realise Hari Raya will be around the same time when we are outside the country.

“I want to keep the momentum going and hopefully be stronger to fight for more podiums.

“If I can finish in the top five overall, hopefully I can get a ride in the Moto2 category in the world championship next year,” said Adam, who described Sunday’s latest win as a perfect Mothers Day and Hari Raya gift for his mother Rasimah Sarmidi.

“Mum is always worried whenever I race. She is my biggest supporter and we will always get in touch after the races,” added the Liqui Moly Intact SIC Junior Team rider.
