Yen Wei eyes revenge over Singapore’s Terry-tan

-

A REVENGE is enough to fuel the fire in Peck Yen Wei.

Yen Wei and her partner Chen Tang Jie are anticipating a chance to avenge their loss against Singapore’s Terry Hee-tan Wei Han in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles event in Bac Giang.

Both pairs have set up a mouth-watering clash after winning their respective first-round matches yesterday.

Yen Wei-tang Jie brushed past Cambodia’s Vannthoun Vath-sok Somalyta 21-5, 21-9 in just 21 minutes while Terry-wei Han ousted Van Hai Pham-van Anh Than 21-14, 22-20 in 40 minutes.

The Singaporean husband and wife pairing had denied Yen Weitang Jie their first World Tour title by beating them in the final of the Indian Open in January.

And now, Yen Wei is baying for their blood.

“Of course we want a revenge this time. We don’t really care about the previous record. Whoever plays well on the day will win,” said Yen Wei.

Meanwhile, another mixed pair Hoo Pang Ron-cheah Yee See also faced little trouble to book their place in the quarter-finals after only needing 18 minutes to sweep aside Daomixay Vorlasing-vilakone Kommanivanh of Laos 21-7, 21-7 in the first round.

They will face Thailand’s Chaloempon Char o en kit a mo rn la ksika Kan la hafo rap lace in the last four.

Pang Ron-yee See and Tang Jieyen Wei have an opportunity to set up an all-malaysian final if they step up to the plate.

The pressure is on Tang Jie-yen Wei and Pang Ron-yee See to meet the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)’S one gold medal target after the unfortunate withdrawal of men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-tee Kai Wun due to injury.

Meanwhile, world No. 186 Go Pei Kee-yap Ling blew a chance for at least a bronze medal in the women’s doubles when they were stunned by Singapore’s world No. 464 Insyirah Khan-bernice Lim 21-10, 14-21, 18-21.

Their shocking defeat was made up for by Yee See-cheng Su Hui, who made it to the quarter-finals with a 21-17, 13-21, 21-14 win over Vietnam’s Pham Thi Khanh-van Anh Than.
