Seven-storey private hospital in Bukit Jalil launched

-

COLUMBIA Asia Hospital-bukit Jalil (CAH-BKJ), the 18th Columbia Asia hospital in Malaysia and 27th in the Columbia Asia group, has been launched.

This will make quality healthcare more accessible in Bukit Jalil which is home to a fast-growing population of over 200,000, said CAH-BKJ in a statement.

The new hospital was launched by Health Ministry deputy director-general (research and technical support) Datuk Dr Nor Fariza Ngah.

Apart from Bukit Jalil, Columbia Asia offers healthcare convenience to the residents of Sri Petaling, Sungai Besi, OUG, Taman Desa, Seri Kembangan and Serdang.

The new facility is a sevenstorey complex offering care in multi-specialties and sub-specialties by consultants, all with vast experience.

A total of 96 beds are provided for patients.

CAH-BKJ general manager Dr Sharonpal Singh said the new hospital aimed to foster a patient-centric healthcare environment prioritising safety and comfort.

“We offer high-quality service and constant innovation for improved health outcomes.

“We want to be the first port of call for all health-related matters in this neighbourhood, from diagnosis and treatment and life-saving care.

“As we serve the community, we will continue to drive medical advancements and emergency preparedness.”

In December last year, CAHBKJ organised the Sihat! Fun Run and Family Carnival to raise health awareness about disease prevention.

The event welcomed over 400 participants and raised RM16,000.

The funds were distributed to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Orang Tua Xiao Xin, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Home of Peace and Shelter Christian Fellowship for Aid and Welfare Selangor.

Dr Sharonpal presented the cheques to representatives of the organisations at the launch.

“We look forward to connecting with our communities through enhanced healthy lifestyle initiatives like children’s events, health workshops, talks and screenings,” said Dr Sharonpal.

Columbia Asia managing director and group chief executive officer Dr Chan Boon Kheng said their hospitals had evolved.

“From mid-sized community-centred models, we are developing larger format hospitals providing more comprehensive and complex medical disciplines.”

He said among upcoming projects was a 200-bed Columbia Asia Hospital in Batu Kawan, Penang, expected to be opened next year.

“We are fully behind the government’s goal in encouraging proactive pro-health behaviour and disease prevention for a healthier nation,” he added.

Also present at the launch were regional general manager Engku Marina Engku Hatim as well as insurers, third-party administrators and Columbia Asia management staff.
