> Residents of Kampung Ibok in Terengganu were shocked when they found thousands of dead fish floating in Sungai Ibok last week, reported Kosmo!.

The fish included tinfoil barb, beardless barb, catfish and lobster.

A resident, Ahmad Sanadi Kassim, 54, said this is the first time such an incident occurred.

He said the cause is still unknown.

“It’s a big loss, especially to local fishermen,” he added.

Another resident, Amir Mazlan, 43, said the May 10 incident has also caused odour pollution, adding that the area is a popular fishing spot.

Terengganu Fisheries Department director Ruzaidi Mamat said the department received information from the villagers and an investigation is being carried out together with the Environment Department.

He added that water samples had been taken to be analysed.
