Affordable higher education

> Kolej YPC offers reasonably priced pathway to obtain UK degrees

-

PROVIDING students with affordable and quality education has been a hallmark of Kolej Teknologi YPC-iTWEB (Kolej YPC). In line with this vision, YPC is offering 100 scholarships to students that enrol in its foundation programme this year.

ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE

The requirements for entry into its programmes are five SPM credits. With this, a student can enrol into the one-year foundation programme and upon completion, move on into a three-year Liverpool John Moores University degree, right here in Malaysia at Kolej YPC.

Students also have the option to pursue their degree at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in the UK itself. They will also have the privilege to choose to study in the UK during year one, year two or the final year of their course.

“Access to affordable education has been the vision and mission of Kolej YPC. We are a firm believer that lack of finance should not be a hindrance or barrier to higher education. The one-year foundation programme saves students time and money. When they start their degree, they can obtain PTPTN loans. Thus finance needed for the degree phase of their education becomes a nonissue,” said Kolej YPC CEO Datuk Dr Noel Roberts.

According to Roberts, students will save between RM50,000 and RM100,000 when they enrol in the college’s foundation course which leads to a UK degree. This figure is competitive, in comparison to pursuing a degree in Australia, New Zealand or the US. The amount of savings will surely benefit middle-income earning parents who want their children to receive a British degree, but are wary of the high costs that normally come with it.

Apart from cost savings, Kolej YPC’s city campus has excellent facilities. It provides a conducive study environment where all students have access to online learning resources from Liverpool John Moores University, UK.

COURSES AND PATHWAYS

Kolej YPC offers the Foundation in Business programme, ideal for those pursuing business and accounting degrees. The Foundation in Business and IT programme are structured for students interested in business and IT careers. Assessment of a student’s progress and development is monitored via a combination of course work, assignments, mid-term and final examinations. Both these courses are fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

On completing the foundation course, students have a choice to take up one of four degree programmes at Kolej YPC Malaysia which are BSc (Hons) eBusiness Technology & Management; BSc (Hons) Information Technology & Multimedia Computing; BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance; or BA (Hons) Business Management.

Students opting to further their studies at Liverpool John Moores University in the UK have more than 30 degree courses to choose from, in the fields of business, accounting, computer, language, social sciences, psychology, arts and more. The course structure and syllabus are essentially the same whether they are offered in the UK or at Kolej YPC locally.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Students are also offered comprehensive pastoral care when they further their education in Liverpool. Assistance is provided from the moment the student sets foot in UK, at the airport. From moral and educational support, to arranging pick-ups from the airport and student accommodation within the vicinity of the university – the college has a team to help facilitate the necessary requirements.
