Indira Gandhi: I may never see my daughter again

PETALING JAYA: Despite having lodged a police report against her Muslim convert husband Muhammad Ridhuan Abdullah on Saturday, Indira Gandhi’s biggest fear is she may never see her daughter again.

“I am truly scared my ex-husband will flee with my girl, Prasana Diksa. I don’t even know where he is now – in the country or abroad.

“The last I heard was he was somewhere in Kota Baru,” she told theSun.

On Friday, the Federal Court ordered the police to arrest Muhammad Ridhuan and return the daughter to Indira. Indira said the police had yet to update her on her ex-husband and the daughter.

“It’s been eight years and till now the police cannot find him ... I don’t know whether police couldn’t find him or they don’t want to arrest him,” she said, adding she could not understand why police could not arrest him.

Breaking into tears, Indira said: “To whom should I go for help if police can’t even cooperate and find him and my daughter.

“Please find my daughter. She was taken away from me when she was 11 months old.

“I have been crying in silence for all these years and my heart aches. My fervent prayer is for me to get my daughter back.” Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police would adhere to the Federal Court order and the warrant of committal against Muhammad Ridhuan would be executed.

“We’d to take the middle ground approach prior to this due to the clashing orders from two courts of similar level. However, since the Federal Court is the highest court in the country’s judiciary system, we will adhere to the order,” he said.

Muhammad Ridhuan, 47, known as K. Pathmanathan before his conversion, obtained a Syariah High Court order on Sept 29, 2009 for custody of his and Indira Gandhi’s three children – Tevin Darsiny, 18, Karan Dinish, 17, and Prasana Diksa.

However, on March 11, 2010, the Ipoh High Court had given custody of the children to Indira but Muhammad Ridhuan failed to adhere to the High Court order to hand over Prasana to the mother.

On May 30, 2014, the Ipoh High Court cited Muhammad Ridhuan for contempt and issued a warrant of arrest against him.
