Promoting corporate support of arts and culture
CREATIVES, artistic individuals and supporters of the creative and artistic industry congregated at the Le Meridien Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to attend the Corporate Supporters of the Arts Conference.
DISCUSSING ART AND CULTURE The conference was part of a three-year project that focused on “Research and Conference in Facilitating Corporate Mécénat Activities and Establishing a Network in Asean Countries”. This initiative was co-organised by My Performing Arts Agency (MyPAA) and the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts “Kigyo Mécénat Kyogikai”, Japan (KMK).
The aim of the project was basically to promote corporate philanthropy and mecenat (support of the arts and culture) through research, mutual exchange, symposiums and conferences. Topics covered at the conference were curated to address corporations, cultural practitioners, NGOs, government agencies, intermediaries, funders, policymakers and relevant cultural and creative ecosystem stakeholders, in supporting and promoting art and culture.
The conference started off with two artistic Japanese performances followed by opening remarks by KMK president Motoki Ozaki and former Malaysian deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam, after which the agenda moved into more pressing matters on a wide range of topics, which were delivered by leading industry figures.
CORPORATE SUPPORT “Malaysia recognises the enormous potential of corporate participation in the culture sector and welcomes the bilateral relationship between KMK Japan and MyPAA Malaysia. We are committed to cultivating corporate investment and philanthropy. We look forward to a rewarding cultural partnership that educates and enriches experiences for all and further drives cultural investment,” said ambassador of Malaysia to Japan Datuk Ahmad Izlan Idris.
