DID you know that Penang Medical College (PMC) is the first and only Irish-owned medical school in Malaysia since 1996? Prestigiously owned by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD), each with a history of over 230 and 160 years respectively, in medical education. congregation from around the world. After their stint abroad, students return to PMC for clinical training. They will be placed at its teaching hospitals, while remaining as full-time students of RCSI or UCD. At PMC, they continue with clinical training for another 2.5 years, gaining hands-on experiences in teaching hospitals exclusive to PMC, as the only medical school in Penang. PMC graduate doctors mark off with highlycoveted, globally-recognised medical degrees – the MB BCh BAO from the National University of Ireland, same degrees as alumni of RCSI and UCD graduates.
