FUJITSU TO CUT 1,800 UK JOBS IN EFFICIENCY DRIVE

-

LONDON: Japanese electronics giant Fujitsu plans to cut up to 1,800 jobs in Britain, reports said on Tuesday, in a move that a trade union called a “hammer blow” to the country’s economy. Fujitsu said it will begin cutting jobs across its British offices from next year in a “transformation programme” to improve its competitiveness in IT services. The company, which employs some 14,000 people in Britain, said the programme to relocate jobs was not linked to Brexit. Unite, one of Britain’s biggest trade unions, called the plan a “hammer blow” for these hardworking employees who have given their all to make the UK subsidiary (of Fujitsu) highly profitable. – dpa
