Two injured in bus-tanker collision

TAPAH: Two people were injured, one seriously, in an accident involving a tour bus and a tanker lorry at Km330 of the North-South Expressway (southbound) near the Tapah rest and recreation area yesterday.

Tapah district police chief Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said in the accident which occurred at about 5.30am, female passenger Wan Nor Amni Wan Din, 22, suffered serious head injuries and became unconsciou­s, while the bus codriver Nur Azmi Mohd Nor, 50 was injured in the leg and ribs.

He said the incident occurred when the bus, carrying 20 passengers from Kelantan and heading towards Tanjung Malim, failed to overtake the lorry laden with cement, and crashed into the rear of the vehicle.

Both the injured were taken to Tapah Hospital. – Bernama
