Stop picking at your nails

-

FIDDLING with your fingernails and picking at old nail varnish can make nails look ugly and unkempt, but how do you remove the layer of varnish if you don’t have any nail polish remover?

Simply apply a layer of fresh polish, let it soak in without drying, and then use a paper towel to gently wipe away the old and new varnish in one fell swoop, advises Dirk Taeuber, editor of Beauty Forum Nailpro magazine.

This secret trick works best with clear nail varnish that doesn’t dry too quickly.

Taeuber says the biggest mistake for a woman who is out of varnish remover is to scratch at the old layer of varnish with a sharp blade such as that of a pair of nail scissors. A layer of nail could be scraped off, and you might even slip and hurt the surrounding skin. – dpa
