Lenovo’s latest line of Think workstations
LENOVO recently introduced two new entries in its line of workstations for the Malaysian market.
The first is the ThinkPad P40 Yoga mobile workstation which is touted as the world’s lightest independent software vendor (ISV)-certified mobile workstation, and the other is the ThinkStation P410 workstation, designed to be a powerful and cost-effective solution.
Built to bridge the gap between a tablet and a fullfledged workstation, the ThinkPad P40 is a 13in convertible device that sports a 2560x1440 resolution IPS display, and is coupled with a stylus pen powered by the Wacom Active ES technology.
Its Intel 6th Generation Core i7 CPU is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and coupled with Nvidia Quadro graphics, the P40 is targeted at creative designers, engineers and anyone looking for a portable mobile device with a stylus interface that can run processor-intensive software such as Autodesk CAD and CAE, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Autodesk Inventor.
The P40 is also Mil-SPECtested, which is a set of standards designed to test durability, ruggedness and reliability. These tests cover extreme environmental variables including temperature, pressure, dust, humidity, and vibrations.
According to Lenovo Asean business manager Jason Wong, the P40 has a battery life of at least six hours. Its stylus also has a built-in battery, and recharges itself every time it is docked, lasting up to four hours on a single charge.
Meanwhile, the ThinkStation P410 may be marketed as an entry-level workstation but it still packs power with its Intel Xeon E5-1600 v4 processors, with Intel Turbo Max 3.0 Technology, that are certified to run Autodesk’s 3D design software.
Khoo Hung Chean, cluster general manager for Lenovo Malaysia, Singapore, and Central Asia Pacific Region, explained: “Whether it’s for the creatives to unleash the ultimate design experience, or for businesses to have unmatched usability, Lenovo provides the solutions customers need to accelerate their business decisions to be top industry leaders.
“The ThinkPad P40 Yoga showcases amazing innovation and the power of Intel technology for creative professionals, while the ThinkStation P410 gives a serious boost to mainstream workstation computing.”
He added that in the face of the current economic situation, Lenovo feels that organisations and consumers will think twice before they spend their money, and when they do, they will spend on innovation, which is the core strength of Lenovo.
