Swift so­lu­tions guar­an­teed

> Acer Malaysia launches a range of de­vices, in­clud­ing the world’s first sub-1cm-thin lap­top, as well as three-year war­ranty pack­ages to suit dif­fer­ent needs

IN LINE with the tagline, ‘lead­ing the trend in style’, Acer Malaysia re­cently in­tro­duced a slew of new prod­ucts and ser­vices to the Malaysian mar­ket. Th­ese in­cluded a new colour for the re­cently-in­tro­duced Acer Swift 3 lap­top, a new con­vert­ible mo­bile de­vice, a gam­ing mon­i­tor, and an all-in-one PC.

But lead­ing the lineup of new prod­ucts is the world’s first sub­1cm-thin lap­top – the el­e­gant but tough Acer Swift 7 – which is only 9.98mm thin when closed and weighs in at only 1.1kg.

Pow­ered by the lat­est 7th Gen In­tel Core i5 pro­ces­sor, the 13in lap­top sports 8GB of RAM, 256GB of solid-state mem­ory, and is rated with a nine-hour bat­tery life.

For con­nec­tiv­ity, the Swift 7 is built with 2x2 802.11ac WiFi with MU-MIMO wire­less tech­nol­ogy. It also has two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, one of which could be used to charge the de­vice.

For au­dio­philes, there are builtin speak­ers with Dolby Au­dio Pre­mium and Acer TrueHar­mony tech­nol­ogy.

Its Full HD dis­play is pro­tected with scratch-re­sis­tant Go­rilla Glass 5, which adds to the Swift 7’s al­ready tough alu­minium uni­body de­sign.

The re­sult is a highly-por­ta­ble lap­top that can with­stand drops, bumps, and scratches.

In ad­di­tion, Acer has also in­cluded a Pre­mium War­ranty Ser­vice with each pur­chase of a Swift 7.

Within the three years from the date of pur­chase, cus­tomers may bring their Swift 7 to an Acer ser­vice cen­tre for a free sys­tem health check, clean­ing ser­vice, and next busi­ness day turn­around re­pair, all via a spe­cial counter ser­vice.

The Swift 7 is un­de­ni­ably thin and light. Due to its width and length (which is larger than other makes’ re­cent small bezel 13in lap­tops) and com­bined with its one-of-a-kind thin­ness, the Swift 7 feels more like a large hard­bound book or file folder.

Un­for­tu­nately, the lack of more com­mon Type-A ports also means that adapters and don­gles are a must-have ac­ces­sory for users.

The Acer Swift 7 is avail­able now on 11street Malaysia for RM4,999.

Mean­while, those look­ing to pur­chase an Acer Swift 3 – launched here in Oc­to­ber – will now have a new colour op­tion: lux­ury gold.

The event also fea­tured the new Acer Spin 5, a 13.3in con­vert­ible mo­bile de­vice pow­ered by a 6th Gen In­tel Core i3 pro­ces­sor paired with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD stor­age, and 10 hours of bat­tery life.

The Acer Swift 3 and the Acer Spin 5 are avail­able now for RM2,899 and RM2,199 re­spec­tively.

For gamers, Acer Malaysia of­fers the Preda­tor Z1, the first 27in curved mon­i­tor with Nvidia G-Sync tech­nol­ogy.

It also fea­tures eye track­ing, which de­tects the user’s head move­ments and trans­lates them into cam­era con­trols on the screen.

The Preda­tor Z1 will be avail­able na­tion­wide by midDe­cem­ber at a price to be an­nounced later.

Last but not least is the As­pire C 22, an all-in-one PC that fea­tures a full HD dis­play and a 6th Gen In­tel Core i3 pro­ces­sor.

What sets the As­pire C 22 (priced from RM2,099) apart is its thin de­sign, mea­sur­ing only 8mm thin.

At the launch, Acer Malaysia also an­nounced its new range of Su­perCare War­ranty Pack­ages.

Di­vided into five three-year pack­ages, th­ese war­ranties are of­fered based on the price of the prod­uct and the type of pro­tec­tion the cus­tomer is look­ing for.

The war­ranty pack­ages are the Acer Su­perCare 1, Su­perCare 2, and Su­perCare 3; the Ac­ci­den­tal Dam­age and Theft Cov­er­age; and the Su­perCare Pro­fes­sional Pack­age.

The Acer Su­perCare 3 pack­age in­cludes in­ter­na­tional war­ranty cov­er­age, while the Acer Su­perCare 1, Su­perCare 2 and the Ac­ci­den­tal Dam­age and Theft Cov­er­age cover for a one-time, one-to-one re­place­ment for a stolen Acer de­vice.

Mean­while, the Su­perCare Pro­fes­sional Pack­age of­fers fast ser­vice as well as se­cu­rity, by en­sur­ing that data on the de­vice’s hard drive re­mains con­fi­den­tial.

Th­ese war­ranty pack­ages ad­dress the most im­por­tant and most over­looked fea­ture of any mo­bile de­vice: af­ter-sales ser­vice.

This im­proves Acer’s unique po­si­tion as one of the few hard­ware mak­ers in the coun­try to of­fer on-site ser­vices and a fast turn­around, a boon to those who uses their lap­top as their daily work­horse.

The Acer Su­perCare 1, 2, and 3 are priced at RM239, RM339, and RM439 re­spec­tively, while the Ac­ci­den­tal Dam­age and Theft Cov­er­age as well as the Su­perCare Pro­fes­sional Pack­age are avail­able for RM139 each.

At the launch were Acer Malaysia’s prod­ucts, sales and mar­ket­ing gen­eral man­ager Chan Weng Hong, prod­ucts direc­tor John­son Seet, as well as prod­uct man­agers Jef­frey Lai and Ed­mund Hoh.

Also present were In­tel South­east Asia sales man­ager and Acer Global Ac­count Team Yo­han Wi­jaya, Mi­crosoft Malaysia con­sumer and chan­nels group gen­eral man­ager Bruce Howe, as well as Mi­crosoft Asia Pa­cific con­sumer and chan­nels group gen­eral man­ager Car­los Lopes.
