Body of two-year-old boy found in ice box

SUNGAI PETANI: A body of a two-yearold boy wrapped in a comforter was found inside an ice box at a unit of the Paya Nahu flats near here early yesterday.
Police, who went to the unit to investigate a domestic quarrel, stumbled upon the body in one of the unit’s room.
After receiving the tip-off of the quarrel at 1.25am, Kuala Muda police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said police went to the unit only to find the body and a physically abused girl.
The four-year-old girl, who was the boy’s sister, was badly injured from physical abuse and was sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, he said in a statement. She is reported to be in critical condition.
Md Zukir said a 26-year-old woman, who claimed to be the mother, said the boy was beaten to death on Nov 9 by her 34-year-old male companion.
“Initial investigation found that the woman and her companion had physically abused the two children.”
The mother and her companion, who were arrested at about 6am, were tested positive for amphetamine.
Md Zukir said police are investigating the case under Section 302 and 325 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
