PE­NANG REP QUERIED OVER ZU­NAR EX­HI­BI­TION

GE­ORGE TOWN: Pe­nang exco mem­ber Datuk Ab­dul Ma­lik Abul Kas­sim had his state­ment recorded by po­lice at his of­fice in Kom­tar yes­ter­day. Ab­dul Ma­lik, who is also Batu Maung as­sem­bly­man, said he was in­ter­viewed for about 30 min­utes in con­nec­tion with the Zu­nar car­toon ex­hi­bi­tion last week. “They were here to take my state­ment with re­gard to the Zu­nar ex­hi­bi­tion”, he told re­porters out­side his of­fice. Zu­nar, whose real name is Zulk­i­fli SM An­warul Haque, was de­tained un­der Sec­tion 4(1)(c) of the Sedi­tion Act 1948 for in­ten­tional in­sult to pro­voke a breach of the peace un­der the Pe­nal Code. He was re­leased on Sun­day.
