Coun­cil staff claims trial to cheat­ing

ABUKIT MERTAJAM: Se­berang Perai Mu­nic­i­pal Coun­cil (MPSP) as­sis­tant en­forcer was yes­ter­day charged at the mag­is­trate’s court here with cheat­ing a com­pany owner of RM3,000.

Mo­hamad Azmir Mohd Ta­judin ( pix), 38, claimed trial when the in­ter­preter read the charge in front of the mag­is­trate 11 Dian­nee Nin­grad Nor Aza­har.

The ac­cused, who has been work­ing with the MPSP for 18 years, was charged with promis­ing Lee Teik En­ter­prise’s owner Beh Lee Teik of get­ting him a premises li­cence for the com­pany, and per­suad­ing him to pay RM3,000 at Lot 2364, Jalan Kulim, Machang Bubok on Oct 2014.

Mo­hamad Azmir was charged un­der Sec­tion 420 of the Pe­nal Code for cheat­ing where the penalty upon con­vic­tion is jail up to 10 years, fine and whip­ping.

The court set bail at RM5,000 and fixed 30 Dec for men­tion. – by Lee Hooi Boon
