CABBAGE IMPORT QUOTA RAISED

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry will increase the import quota of round cabbage to ensure adequate supply and stabilise its prices in the local market. Its minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said soaring prices of round cabbage was due to increased demand ahead of the Chinese New Year celebration. “The import quota for round cabbage will be increased by an additional 1,500 to 2,000 metric tonnes only for the Chinese New Year compared to 6,000 metric tonnes per month at present,” he said after an inspection at the Kuala Lumpur wholesale market here yesterday. – Bernama
