Mind-blowing experiences

> It’s not all fun and games in Macao as the city also offers many learning activities for visitors

-

WHETHER it is enjoying the great outdoors, soaking in local culture, indulging in some retail therapy or just enjoying great food, you will find them all in Macao.

But it’s not all fun and games. Macao also offers some great learning experience for both young and old.

The Macao Science Centre is home to the world’s largest 8000x8000-pixel screen equipment. Macao is the third city in the world to possess this after Beijing and Hong Kong.

The centre also has a highdefinition 3D projection system in the Space Theatre of the Planetarium, the first digital system to be simultaneously equipped with ultrahigh definition and 3D visual effects in the world.

There is also a same-scale model of the Shenzhou-VII spaceship as well as a number of intelligent robots to awe visitors.

Visitors can also experiment and have fun at the Communications Museum that celebrates the progress made in the telecommunications field.

Or learn more about pandas at the Macao Giant Panda Pavilion in Seac Pai Van Park in Coloane.

After the fun ‘lessons’, enjoy the adrenaline rush of attempting the Batman Dark Flight 4D motion ride, the world’s first flight simulation ride themed around the DC Comics superhero.

Next, conquer the 338-metre-high Macao Tower, which offers sweeping city views, before taking the plunge into a Guinness World Record for the world’s highest bungy jump from a platform 233 metres up in the tower.

Experience the thrill of freefalling four to five seconds with speeds of up to 200kph for that ultimate rush!

If that’s not enough, try the SkyJump that utilises the Fan Descenders technology which enables daredevils to fly through the air at 75kph without rebounding or inverting, before decelerating to a comfortable landing speed.

Then, there’s the Skywalk X, a thrilling walk with no hand rails around the main outer rim of the tower, 233 metres above ground. Safety is guaranteed by a world’s first overhead rail system.

Or else take a ride up the Golden Reel, the world’s first and Asia’s highest figure-eight ferris wheel. Suspended 130 metres between the twin hotel towers of Studio City, it has 17 steampunk-themed cabins that offer views of the city at different angles.

For some local culture, check out Anim’Arte Nam Van, which is jointly managed by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Sports Bureau, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Institute for Tourism Studies.

This project aims to transform the Nam Van Lakeside Plaza into a waterfront leisure hub combining art, leisure and dining all in one place.

For more, visit MGTO website and Macao Tourism Malaysia Facebook.

During the Matta Fair starting on Friday this weekend, MGTO is giving a gift to the first 300 visitors who purchase any Macao packages from participating travel agents. They can redeem the gift from the Macao booth located at Hall 1 (booths 1443 to 1446).
