Airport safety boost
> MoU signed to enhance all aspects of cyber security at flight gateways under MAHB
SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is strengthening cyber security at all airports under its purview through a collaboration with CyberSecurity Malaysia. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the matter was inked between MAHB and CyberSecurity, a leading national cyber security firm at the KL International Airport (KLIA) here yesterday.
The MoU was signed by MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and CyberSecurity chief executive officer Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, and was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with a working visit by Ahmad Zahid to KLIA, Bernama reported.
According to an MAHB statement, CyberSecurity will provide services to enhance cyber security at the airports in stages.
Among them are advisory services related to cyber security in the planning and roadmap for data or information processing technology, cyber security incident management, digital forensics, development of cyber security competence and capability, cyber security awareness and acculturation programme, online security assurance, and cyber security product certification.
During the visit, Ahmad Zahid also observed MAHB’s table-top security and emergency exercise in dealing with violent incidents.
MAHB said the table-top exercise was held regularly, with the latest being a fullscale advanced training to deal with incidents of violence, which was carried out at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport late last year.
Such exercises involved all stakeholders at the airport, including airline operators and authorities, the statement said.
