Improving early childhood education

-

THE Ministry of Education Malaysia has stipulated that beginning this year, individuals seeking to work in kindergartens and childcare centres are required to possess a minimum Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) qualification or that in relevant fields to qualify for the job.

Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) anticipated this enforcement over 12 years ago and established the Diploma in ECE programme in response to it. The diploma programme combines academic theory and practical training to provide students with a firm foundation that will allow them to handle all the responsibilities of educating and nurturing young children.

MCKL recently expanded to accommodate a part-time Diploma in ECE course. The programme can be taken up by current kindergarten and childcare centre employees who do not possess the necessary qualification, but are required to within three years.

The programme which is a three-year course, requires students to attend classes on Saturdays from 8am to 5pm. The widely recognised programme also includes hands-on workshops and practicums to improve essential skills. Intakes open in January, April and August.

MCKL is now offering a 25% discount on tuition fees for its 2017 intake for the part-time Diploma in ECE programme. For more, visit the MCKL website.
