Risk is everywhere, just face it

the closest. He taught me a lot about how to be a well-respected person in both profession and life.

What do you want to accomplish in the next five years? I want Blublack to be the “hub” for international clients when they require production/broadcasting services in this region. At the same time, I see Blublack growing and expanding with at least two more arms in different businesses.

Best piece of advice you ever got on your career? Risk is everywhere. You can’t escape it so you just have to face it.

Most admired business leader? Why? Tan Sri Tony Fernandes. He’s a big time icon and a very successful businessman but yet he is so down-toearth and you only hear good things from his staff. That has always been my number one principle – no matter how high you are, always look down so you remember how you came up.

How do you stay abreast of issues affecting your industry? Handling issues need honesty and sincerity. In Blublack, the two of us have always been upfront if we are stuck on certain things and the other half will normally be finding a way out. Our strength is that we are both experts in completely different things and skills, hence when one gets stuck, the other one is ready to act. Other general issues are always there in this industry but we don’t waste our time thinking about them too long – we move on to other things that benefits us in our own way.

If you could have an hour with any thought leader in the world, who would it be and why? If and when I get an hour, with Tony Fernandes. Then I will start thinking who I want to meet next. What was your biggest failure and how did you learn from it? I regretted not having started young with my own business. Therefore, I learned that whenever I have a new idea, just do it and don’t delay and wait for too long. To delay is to fail.

What man made innovation confounds you? Why? The telephone. Connecting the world makes everything happen. Communication has always been the number one key to success in anything and everything. The idea of having a telephone solves millions of problems in the world. You could have the biggest plane in the world but it won’t fly without a way to communicate. Graham Bell is brilliant!

Malaysia’s greatest brand. AirAsia. To me it’s not really the brand but the way Tony runs it that makes it great. A brand is just a name without a great leader behind it.

A must-read for every business owner/manager I have to be honest here – I am not a reader but I love listening to great motivational speeches. Those provide greater impact to me as it gives a strong energy and an urge to act.
