A modest affair
COACH recently opened its new Malaysian flagship store at Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur. Designed by the brand’s Executive Creative Director, Stuart Vevers, this newly inaugurated two-storey store showcases the brand’s distinctive modern luxury concept and is the largest Coach store in Southeast Asia.
Drawing from a wide range of influences, the modern luxury concept places a premium on contrasting textures and luxe materials.
The new retail space features a 36-foot-tall glass block facade, face-lit logos and impressive blackened metal detailing.
Also, an intimate entrance welcomes visitors while warm lighting and inviting interiors create a sense of discovery.
With a nod to the brand’s her- INSPIRED by the vibrancy of the Islamic fashion scene and in an effort to further expand the industry, Asia’s first Islamic fashion week will be held in Malaysia from March 30 to April 2.
It is a uniquely designed trade event aimed at showcasing the blend of modest fashion with cutting-edge style that is within the Islamic context.
With the theme “Establishing Asia As A Global Centre For Islamic Fashion”, it aspires to be the most influential Islamic fashion and lifestyle marketplace in Asia by creating an avenue for the Islamic fashion business community to share their experience and knowledge.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is the honorary patron for the Asia Islamic Fashion Week 2017 (AIFW17), and he is accompanied by the international adviser, Alia Khan, as well as fashion influencers such as Dian Pelangi, Mizz Nina
and Melanie Elturk. Since Malaysia is the host to this inaugural show, the retail industry will convene at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to spot the latest trends in Islamicinspired apparel, accessories, cosmetics and resources. There are three main components to the event and they are the Fashion Trade Show, the Fashion Show and the Fashion Interact. In this debut edition, more than 10,000 visitors, 180 exhibitors, 100 designers, 100 international trade buyers, fashion influencers, business executives, fashion photographers, and media from over 20 countries are expected to take part. The AIFW17 is organised by AIFW Event Sdn Bhd, supported by MATRADE and SME Corporation Malaysia, and is held in collaboration with Islamic Fashion and Design Council. – Yeo Chia Hui
