> Johor sultan to reveal agent who offered RM2m in ‘tan sri’ title case

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, will reveal the name of the agent who allegedly offered him RM2 million to recommend an individual for a “tan sri” title.

The sultan said he will reveal the name of the person to the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) when he meets its officers today.

“You will know soon,” he told reporters at the KTMB station here yesterday, adding that the government is not involved in the issue, and that the person is a Malaysian from Kuala Lumpur.

Sultan Ibrahim had earlier driven a sixcoach locomotive from Johor Baru for a leisure visit to Kuala Lumpur.

It was reported that the sultan recently revealed an individual had offered him RM2 million to propose names to the chief secretary to the government as candidates to receive “tan sri” titles, which would be bestowed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The sultan said the individual had offered him the amount, saying that since the sultan had a quota of titles to give out anyway, he might as well profit from it.

“I felt insulted by the whole event,” Sultan Ibrahim said. Meanwhile, MACC sources said the commission was aware of the matter.
